Buyers - Terms and Conditions

Please read our terms and conditions carefully as they contain important information about your rights and obligations when buying a registration mark (number plate) from ‘Private Plate.net’.

NEWER REGISTRATION MARK CANNOT BE PUT ON AN OLDER VEHICLE

The buyer must be aware that that you cannot display a number plate on a vehicle that makes the vehicle appear newer than it actually is.

Example:  A ‘16’ registration mark cannot be put onto a vehicle registered prior to March 1st 2016.

REGISTRATION MARK AND AGE OF VEHICLE MUST BE COMPATIBLE

It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure that when they select and purchase any registration mark, and that number plate is to be assigned to a vehicle, that the registration mark and the age of the vehicle are compatible.  ‘Private Plate.net’ will not be held responsible for any mistakes made by the buyer regarding the above as registration marks once purchased cannot be changed or cancelled.

ALL REGISTRATION MARKS ARE SOLD SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY

All registration marks are sold subject to availability.  Some of our registration marks are sold on behalf of other customers.  ‘Private Plate.net’ will not accept any responsibility should the other customer change their mind in respect of selling, or in the unlikely event of issues with the transfer at the DVLA.

PRICES OF REGISTRATION MARKS

Prices shown for registration marks on our website are subject to change without notice.

THE NUMBER PLATES THEMSELVES

‘Private Plate.net’ do not supply the actual number plates to attach to the front / rear of the buyer’s vehicle.  Our prices do not include the supply of the number plates themselves.

ONCE DECISION MADE TO PURCHASE

Once the buyer decides to purchase a registration mark from ‘Private Plate.net’ we will require you to complete our on-line form to show your intention to purchase.  We will then confirm as to whether the registration mark is still available.  Once confirmed, we will then require a 20% deposit from you which can be paid by bank transfer.  Once this is received a buyer shall be deemed to be found for that particular registration mark .

PAYMENT OF OUTSTANDING BALANCE

We will then contact the buyer, where arrangements will be made with the buyer to pay the outstanding balance in full before any transfer will be submitted to the DVLA.  For stock number plates this should be paid within 7 days.  For DVLA number plates, this should be paid ASAP, and in any case no more than 3 days.

All payments by bank transfer.

TRANSFER PROCEDURE

‘Private Plate.net’ will carry out the administrative tasks to have a registration mark (number plate) put onto a Certificate of Entitlement (V750) or a Retention Document (V778).  These both have a ten year retention period. The current DVLA fee of £80.00 is included in the total purchase price of all our registrations marks.

These tasks will be carried out as expeditiously as possible by us.  'Private Plate.net' cannot guarantee any specific time period for the transfer onto the document, and will not be liable for any losses caused by delays from other agencies.

REVOCATION OF THE RIGHT TO A REGISTRATION MARK

If a balance payment is not received as required, a debt recovery company will be employed to recover any payments outstanding. You would be charged for their services. Please note there is no cooling off period permitted.

DISPLAY OF NUMBER PLATES ON VEHICLE

You must not display number plates on your vehicle until the transfer process is complete.

Once the transfer process is complete, the registration mark must be displayed correctly. Subsequently all registration marks sold by 'Private Plate.net' are sold on the understanding that the number plates will be displayed in accordance with Section 17 of the Road Vehicles Regulations Act 1971.
